Krystal and Ron Engagement

Took a few shots with my studio set up for Krystal and Ron. They requested some nice black and white portraits for wedding invitations and I think they turned out pretty good. I used my portable studio setup which consists of 2 Elinchrom d-lite 4's with softboxes, manfrotto backdop, savage seamless paper and two awesome models. Thanks again you two and I look forward to capturing your wedding next year

I was at the wedding on saturday and was able to take some pics. However, I didn't get all the angles I wanted because the main photographer was doing his work and I didn't want to get in his way. Here is a shot of the new couple during their first dance. Lighting was terrible so I tried my best.

Spruce Meadows and This Summer.

Time once again to dust off the old bloggy blog.

So I'm now back in Calgary, to spend the summer working maintenance at the golf course again, but I plan on doing photo shoots as much as I can get out. It's nice to be in a town with more to do and not 90 other photoj students going to the same event.

I have a few goals this summer, one is to get published somewhere (most likely Calgary Herald), and others are to shoot weddings and higher end sporting events. I also will be updating this on a weekly basis. I was going to make a set day for updating. But I think I'll just be doing it as frequent as I get out shooting. I'm excited to show and shoot more pictures.

I shot the 2010 May Classic at Spruce meadows a couple weeks ago and finally got around to editing some pics.

first and ten, do it again...

So I went to waterloo this past weekend and picked up a photo request for the Laurier University Paper. It was a national cheer-leading competition. Needless to say it was very loud, and gave me a headache. Anyways, I got this shot from it of York University Cheerleaders. I wanted to post a couple of people falling, but thats just mean, maybe another time when I'm in a bad mood I'll post them haha.

Zombieland YYZ.

So I haven't posted in a couple weeks and thought it would be time to post an update. I had good reasons for not posting I swear. 1) Didn't take very interesting photos in the last while. 2) I had caught the swine flu. 3) The new GF came to visit :) 4) Lots of work has piled up. 5) Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 came out ahah.  But anyways I have taken some photos recently that I thought I should share.

I went to Toronto one weekend before I got sick and shot the 2009 Toronto Zombie Walk. It was really fun and the people at it really got into the spirit of things. It was also a little creepy, there were some interesting characters there. Anyways, here are a couple shots I got from it.

Homecoming Weekend.

So just a quick blog update.

I went to Waterloo last Saturday for homecoming. Originally I didn't want to shoot the game, because in all my time at Laurier, I had not gotten plastered and gone to the homecoming game. I was always shooting it. But as it got closer to the date, I had an assignment on depth of field due this week, and I would miss taking photos to much, so I decided to compromise and shoot just the first half.

Mother nature didn't agree with my compromise. As soon as the half time buzzer rang, it started to down pour. So I ran back to the stands where my friends were sitting and hurriedly packed my gear up and we made our way to the kegger.

I got some good shots from the first half. I got this shot of receiver Shamawd Chambers running the ball into the end zone. I had some other good ones, like the ones I have done for the Cord in the past (catches, tackles, qb throwing etc). But I liked this one because you could see the eyes of Shamawd and how intensely focused he is. And its something different than the Ryan Stewart football style I usually do haha. Anyways hope ya enjoy.

Also a big thank you to the Cord Photo Managers, Yusuf and Nick, for getting me into the game on such short notice, thanks boys!

Pullin' Punches

So this is my first ever blog. Whats up interwebs? This is intense. Hopefully you all enjoy what I have to say on here and check back frequently for new photos. So I'm gonna get this started off with a photo from my last shoot. This band was amazing. They're called The Arkells and you all should check them out. These guys are gonna be big, if there is any justice in the world. Here is just one of the shots from the night. Unfortunately the paper didn't run a story on this so I wasn't able to use my photos for print but whatever. Hope you guys like.
